Once you have gear, opportunities for memorable experiences open up to you. We recommend a beginner kayak course for everyone who owns a kayak. It will teach basic paddle strokes to improve your steering and control of your kayak. This course also covers safety and at the end of the course you will have a flatwater proficiency certificate.
Depending on the type of paddling you do, you may be interested in courses that focus on river and safety or whitewater kayaking.
Taking your own kayak on guided tours allows you discover waterways that may be otherwise inaccessible to you (due to access, or your inexperience). Many trips allow you to use your own equipment and you will benefit from an organised tour led by an experienced guide - a great way to learn how to do multi-day trips.
